Buying
drum sets can be an exciting thing for the budding drummer. Learning
a new skill or instrument and dedicating the time to learning it are
big things in the lives of most people. There are plenty of people
who buy drum sets with the intention of playing them forever, only
to change their minds for one reason or another quite quickly.
Buying drum sets is usually not something you can just do with some
chump change. More likely it will take quite a bit of money if you
want to buy a nice drum set. If having a nice drum set is your goal,
ask yourself the following three questions before you purchase.
• Do I really want it? ? The easiest way to test if you really
want to be buying drum sets to be able to use at home is to simply
wait a couple of days. If you have a strong desire to buy a drum set
on Monday, why not wait until Friday before you make the purchase.
Doing this will allow you to evaluate if the drum set is really something
that you want or if it was just a spur of the moment desire. Understanding
the answer to this question could save you some headaches down the
road.
• Where will I play it? ? If you have decided that buying drum
sets is truly what you want to be able to do, the next thing you will
need to decide is where you will practice. Drum sets are loud. There
are people inside your home (and all around you if you live in an
apartment building) who do not want to listen to you practice. Can
you set it up in the garage? Are your walls sound proof? Do you have
enough space for it? Will it get in the way of other things? These
are all questions that you will need to consider before you decide
where you will place the drum set.
• How much time am I willing to commit? ? If you are buying
drum sets, you are going to want to think about how much time you
are willing to commit to honing your craft. If you anticipate that
you will only have 15 minutes a week to play, then perhaps the investment
would not be a wise one. On the other hand, if you think you can spare
an hour a day, chances are that you will see improvement quickly.
Buying drum sets does not need to be rushed into. If you are able
to think a bit about what you are doing and ask yourself the three
aforementioned questions, you are much more likely to make a solid
investment.
